Everyone has two simultaneous experiences – our physical surroundings and our reverie. The physical environment seems large, but reverie expands, unexpectedly becoming larger. The focus of this work is in the simultaneity and counterpoint between these two states.
Process
Becker takes a photograph in a commonplace/common place. Departing from that original incarnation, the process becomes more conceptual. She digitally removes, highlights abstracts and/or montages. She also sometimes collages. These methods probe the subject of our ordinary, quotidian experience merging with the vastness and abstractness of our reverie. Printing is mostly on fine art paper and collages utilize mostly elements of her printed photos along with additional materials.
Images, often in the 2-3 foot range, also range from very small to four by five feet, determined by venue.
